Collaborative Productions

Behind the pencil is an opportunity for the Pencilish family to go "behind the scenes" on their latest projects. I scripted, recorded, edited, and delivered a rough cut of my work on the Lightbox Expo banner. The team at Pencilish added the finishing touches and music.

Another Behind the Pencil, this time in After Effects. You can see the work output from the above video on my motion page.
Thinking through drawing:
Yep, that's what I do.
Thinking Through Writing
I do that too.
Hybrid
Why choose just one medium when you can have them all?

The Idea here was simple: Let's put an animated character in a live action environment. I led this project at Dallas College in collaboration with video producers and interns for shooting plates and color correction, and one other artist assisting on the animation side.

(Animated Excerpts only in this cut).

A sizzle ad for Dallas College covering their programs by department/interest targeted at 5th/6th graders. When covid turned campus buildings into ghost towns, it was decided this production should be animated. Timeline: 1 Week pre-production, -1 weeks production.

Boards & 3D
I was the prodUcer on the below board-driven project at Dallas College. Working with a 2D Designer and 3D Generalist, I scripted, boarded, directed, composited, edited and pitched to the client brief. My team did everything else in between.
Live Action
I Wrote, produced, and directed this "Evacuation" segment for a  collaborative campus safety video at Dallas College. The shoot required assigning staff/crew, call sheets, casting of both professional and student actors, and coordination with the theater department, campus police, and campus safety to approve and supervise safe operation of the smoke machine inside campus facilities. I was not operating camera.
SOLO Productions
The below Dallas College course segments were planned and executed in 1 month. I was the sole writer, producer, character designer, animator, voice over, and compositor (I wore all hats). The brief was an academic outline of an online course covering laws and ethics for medical coding.
